Our church is having a little bible read along (@readthebiblerdu), which is kind of like a sing along, but not as musical.
I think we are reading through the New Testament in a year, which is cool (never read the whole thing!) so I am excited to have some accountability and that someone else actually designed the plan.
Basically it seems to go through 5 chapters a week, leaving time for reflection (who are we kidding, to catch up!) on Saturday and Sunday. Last week was James and this week is the first five chapters of Matthew.
I actually seriously enjoyed reading James last week and am looking forward to Matthew. The youversion app has never made it easier to read/understand the bible with so many different translations at your literal fingertips. I kind of feel like ‘The Message’ is cheating but it is just so darn understandable. I want my life to be like this:
Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor. (James 3:17, 18 MSG)
Anyone else reading?
